Knowledge Matters Powers Student Sports & Business Simulation Event with HUD and Community Partners

September 26, 2025

Jersey City, NJ – Sept 18, 2025 Knowledge Matters, powered by eDynamic Learning, in collaboration with the Jersey City and Paterson Housing Authorities, hosted a Virtual Sport Management Business Simulation Event designed to spark student interest in business, entrepreneurship, and sports management. The initiative is sponsored by the West Point Society of Richmond with participation from representatives from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the HBCU NY Classic Career Expo, and other community partners.

This program combined experiential learning with the cultural celebration of the HBCU NY Football Classic, held September 13, 2025, at MetLife Stadium.

Kickoff events were held at the Jersey City and Paterson Housing Authorities one week before the Classic. Students launched their simulated businesses using Knowledge Matters’ Virtual Business – Sports & Entertainment platform, where they made decisions about ticket pricing, promotions, concessions, sponsorships, and stadium operations.

The winning student team was recognized during the HBCU NY Football Classic on September 13, 2025. The kickoff and the announcement of competition results on game day was hosted by Lauren Pisa, National Sales Manager at Knowledge Matters.

What makes this initiative unique is the opportunity for students to bridge virtual learning with real-world experience in the same week. By managing their own virtual sports franchises, students experience the pressures and strategies behind running successful events. Days later, they stepped into the atmosphere of the HBCU NY Football Classic, where they witnessed the scale and excitement of a nationally celebrated sports event. This pairing of simulation and live experience gave students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world inspiration.

Michael Browder, HUD Acting Deputy Regional Administrator for New York and New Jersey, said:
“HUD’s mission is not only to provide quality and affordable housing, but to create pathways to opportunity. The Veterans Affinity Group STEM Innovation Networks put that mission into action—meeting youth where they are, sparking interest in STEM & AI, and preparing the next generation for self-sufficiency and 21st-century careers.”

Maureen Ginley, General Manager of Knowledge Matters, said:
“At Knowledge Matters, we believe students learn best when they can apply concepts to authentic, engaging experiences. This simulation brings the excitement of sports and entertainment together with the fundamentals of business—helping students see themselves as future leaders and entrepreneurs.”
