Learning Blade has allowed my students to see the material in a different manner. This allows them to increase their comfort with the material put them closer to mastery than before. I like that it allows the students to learn at their own pace, provides them with reinforcing information and gives them the ability to learn the material away from the classroom.

Learning Blade helps students make the connection between STEM concepts and careers. It uses real world scenarios to engage students in the missions and uses a cross curricular approach to connect to the possible career choices. Students enjoy seeing how what they are currently learning will benefit them in the future and how it is applicable in the real world. Learning Blade missions prepare students to fulfill the mission of the South Carolina Department of Education, which is “to serve students, support teachers, empower parents, and engage in the community so that every student graduates prepared to reach their full potential. Every South Carolina student graduates college-ready, career-ready, or military-ready.

What I really like about Learning Blade is that it’s an enrichment tool for me, I can show my students how what they’re learning connects directly to real career fields and make those real-world connections. I also use the full missions because I strongly believe in integrating ELA and social studies into STEM. Learning Blade allows students to see that STEM isn’t just math and science, it all works together, and that deeper connection really supports their learning.

I will absolutely be sharing Learning Blade with the teachers. This should be used by everyone to show how careers are aligned to what they are teaching.

I keep the Mission Guide on my desk as a resource to share with my teachers, I love that it expands on their knowledge and skillset for what careers are out there in the science field.
